dubai - Women's cancer comes under the spotlight this month, with the local Bohra community's campaign to spread awareness about breast, cervical and endometrial cancers, as part of their activities during Ramadan.
The exhibition, aimed at educating as many women as possible, is being held at Burhani Masjid Ghusais Dubai between 5.30-6.30pm.
Dr. Sakina Poonawala, OBGYN at Ultra Care Medical Group, Dubai, said, "Almost 70 to 80 ladies come to the exhibition daily; through this, we encourage women to lead a healthy lifestyle".
The Bohra community started contributing to the cause of ?cancer awareness among women starting way back in 1990, ?with awareness programmes held in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi.
Awareness programmes alone aren't enough to fight cancer, so we've also made mammograms and cancer screening measures available at heavily discounted rates. The first programme was launched seven years ago, when two breast cancer cases in the very early stages were detected from among 150 candidates.

We are also arranging HPV vaccines against cervical cancer at subsidised rates," Dr. Sakina Poonawala said.
