A vehicle was entirely gutted in fire following a collision on the Emirates road in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain. The gutted car was being driven by an Emirati.
The central operations room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the collision, dispatched the traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site in record time
"Initial enactment of the accident show that a big fire immediately erupted in one of the two vehicles involved in the collision," according to Col Hassan Ali bin Sarm, director of the UAQ Civil Defence department.
"The firefighters dispatched managed to put out the blaze, and the driver of the destroyed vehicle managed to get out of it before catching fire."
The paramedics provided first aid to the driver of the gutted car, and shifted him to the Sheikh Khalifa hospital for treatment and medical care, he added.
"The driver was in good condition as he received only minor injuries, and was discharged from the hospital soon after."
Urging, Col Bin Sarm said all drivers need to be focused on the road and observe traffic rules and regulations.
"Speeding is one of the main reasons blamed for fatal accidents," he said, noting that the accident file was referred to the UAQ traffic prosecution for taking due legal procedures.
