The Sharjah Police have announced speed limits for vehicles on the new road towards Kalba city - stretching from Kalba roundabout to Sheikh Khalifa Street in Fujairah.
The speed limit for small vehicles will be 80km per hour and for heavy vehicles and trucks, it will be 60km per hour.
The police expressed keenness to bolster its effort to shorten the distance covered by drivers during journey between cities of the eastern region, by enhancing road safety and providing mechanisms - such as radars - to check speeding on the new road.
The police pointed out the constant presence of traffic patrols to reduce traffic violations. The ambulance units have been set up on the road to provide rapid response to emergencies and accidents.
The department of traffic and patrols of the eastern region police called for strict adherence to traffic laws - especially speeding - so that accidents can be curtailed on the new Kalba road - an important addition to the traffic infrastructure in the region.
