The Abu Dhabi Police reported on Wednesday evening that nine children were injured in two separate accidents involving school buses in Abu Dhabi. In the first incident, six children were injured after the school bus they were travelling in crashed into another vehicle near the Union Bank on Al Reem Island. In the second incident, three Emirati kids were sustained injuries after their bus collided with a car near Al Raha Beach. Two other women were also injured.
All the injured students were taken to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, director of Department of Health in Abu Dhabi, who was accompanied by Mohammed Al Hamli, undersecretary of the Department of Health, visited the students on Wednesday evening to check on their condition.
"I am happy that all the children are in good health condition after receiving treatment," said Al Hamed.
"We would continue with our efforts to ensure that good health care is provided to these children."
Al Hamed noted that there was nothing more important than the safety of "our children".
"We give the health of our children top priority and we are so much concerned about their wellbeing," he said.
Authorities have urged motorists to drive carefully and give priority to school buses while driving.
