The transport authority in Ras Al Khaimah has clamped a ban on transporting workers to other emirates as part of the precautionary measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Workers may only be transported within the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, said Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, general manager, RAK Transport Authority.

Each bus must have workers only up to maximum 50 per cent of its capacity, he added.

"All companies have been instructed to make their workers strictly adhere to physical distancing."

Workers need to maintain a distance of at least 2 metres when getting on and off the bus, he pointed out.

"All workers should wear face masks and follow all preventive measures to ensure their safety and protect themselves against Covid-19."

The authority has also announced that all its transactions are now being processed remotely.

"All transactions are now done either via email or WhatsApp."

Recently, the authority started its remote work system using the latest technologies.

"Audiovisual communication and online meetings are being held on a regular basis boosting work production in a safe virtual environment."
Similar measures have been announced by Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah as well.
