Workers in the industrial area of Mussafah are relieved and heaping lavish praises on the government authorities for their incredible effort after the Covid-19 screening and testing drive was successfully completed.
Labourers, including visa violators, have been tested for free at the various screening centres run by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha).
The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee, teaming up with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, implemented programmes to ensure the protection of workers' rights, their health and safety during the pandemic.
Inam Ullah, a tailor, lauded the Abu Dhabi Government for its well-coordinated and systematic response to stymie the spread of the virus. "We feel safe now but will remain alert. The leadership protected citizens and residents equally. Now, we feel more committed to the UAE than before. I am sure with such visionary leadership and strategy, the UAE will be the first country to fully recover from this pandemic situation."
In multi-phase block-by-block drive, residents of 2,730 buildings were screened and 260 residential complexes sanitised.
'Words not enough to thank them'
Falak Wazir, who works as a clerk at a private firm, commended the efficient work of Abu Dhabi Police and health authorities.
"Abu Dhabi Police made announcements in different languages and ensured that all of us were taken into confidence. Their words were comforting and therefore, even those who had violated visa norms came out to test. Police used to be on the roads hours before the curfew timing to monitor traffic situation. The screening centres run by health officials, mostly locals, were thoroughly committed. They were here at such high-risk densely populated areas for us. Words will never be enough to thank them."
A total of 570,000 tests were done in Mussafah as part of the national screening project. Free treatment was provided to those who tested positive.
Amazing campaign
Restrictions in the area have been lifted and workers can now move freely to work at any hour as normalcy gradually returns in the emirate.
Saqib Bannuzai, who landed on a visit visa, is in awe after seeing the massive campaign unfold in front of his eyes. "I got to see first-hand why the visionary leadership is praised worldwide. If the working class is taken care of in such a manner, surely the country will be a leader in the world. The planning and implementation of this campaign was amazing. I hope the situation recovers, jobs are created and the economy booms again. Also, all residents must act responsibly and continue to follow precautionary measures."
Meanwhile, screening and testing drive continues in the eastern region of Al Ain and western region of Al Dhafra.
