Coronavirus: UAE reports 289 new Covid-19 cases, 469 recoveries, 1 death

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Saturday reported 289 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 469 recoveries.
The new cases were detected through additional 46,000 tests.

MoHAP also reported one new death today, taking the tally to 338.

The total number of active cases as on July 18 stands at 7,456, while total recoveries are 48,917.

In a statement, the ministry affirmed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.
The UAE is turning the tide against the coronavirus with active cases at 7,637 recorded yesterday, down 55 per cent from their peak of 17,173 registered on June 4, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has announced the registration of 5000 volunteers for the third phase of clinical trials for inactivated Covid-19 vaccine in Abu Dhabi during the first 24 hours of activating the registration site www.4humanity.ae. Officials are hoping 15,000 people from Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain can be persuaded to volunteer for about three to six months.
After a gap of almost three months, shisha cafes in Dubai will reopen their doors to the public from today, with strict precautionary measures in place. In the second phase of reopening, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has also issued a circular detailing coronavirus precautionary measures that must be taken to reopen swimming pools in hotels in Abu Dhabi. The ministry, however, called upon the public to adhere to health guidelines and instructions from the relevant authorities, particularly concerning social distancing, to ensure the health and safety of all. 
It was also announced that, visitors or tourists in the UAE whose visit visas expired after March 1 have until August 11 to leave the country, after which they will be given another 30-day grace period to either change their status or exit the country.
