The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Sunday reported 239 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 360 recoveries. No new deaths were reported.
More than 42,000 new Covid-19 tests have been carried out in the country, the ministry added.
In a statement, the ministry affirmed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.
Mosques across the UAE can operate at 50 per cent capacity from tomorrow (August 3) when the country reopens after a four-day Eid Al Adha break. All other precautionary measures announced previously by the authorities to keep the faithful safe from Covid-19 will remain in place.
On the third day of the Eid break on Saturday, many families chose to venture out, but after taking all the due precautionary measures, including wearing face masks and maintaining an adequate social distance. However, authorities have called on the public to adhere to safety measures and avoid large gatherings, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, major UAE carriers and other airlines operating in the country announced that passengers arriving from the countries where there are no UAE-approved laboratories available can conduct their polymerase chain reaction (PCR) Covid-19 test at any government-accredited laboratory in their country of departure. Emirates, Etihad and Air India Express are among the airlines that announced a reform in the earlier ruling.
