The Sharjah Police on Thursday revealed the preliminary autopsy report that was part of their investigations into the suicide-murder case that took place on Tuesday (March 28). A 35-year-old Indian man jumped off a residential building in Sharjah and confessed in a letter that he killed his wife and children before taking his life.

Forensic investigation showed that the husband poisoned the wife, whereas strangulation marks were found on the necks of his two daughters, aged between 3 and 7. There were no signs of violence or resistance on the bodies of the wife and children.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, said the initial investigations confirmed that the man was a Sharjah resident but worked in a neighbouring emirate. It was also revealed that the man had no motives or financial crises that compelled him to jump from the 10th floor of an apartment.

The authorities are investigating further to determine the motive behind the suicidal husband who committed the shocking crime. Officers at Buhaira Comprehensive Police Station summoned a friend of the wife for questioning and to take her statement.

Al Zari said that the Central Operations Room received a report of a fall from one of the towers in the Al Majaz area on Tuesday at 5:45pm. Authorities initially believed the incident was a case of a tragic fall. Patrols from the Buhaira Police Station and teams from the National Ambulance rushed to the site in an attempt to save the man, but he later succumbed to the injuries he sustained.

"We did not have any data on the person indicating his identity or personality, but after searching him, police found a paper with a note: 'I killed my wife and two daughters while they were inside the apartment.'

The police then obtained permission from the Public Prosecution to search the apartment. The search team broke down the door of the apartment, and the bodies of the wife and two daughters were found."

The bodies of the woman and her daughters will be repatriated once the investigation report is handed over to the Public Prosecution. Police have not yet disclosed the reason behind the crime.
