With the advent of the new academic year, the Dar Al Ber Society (Dabs) has distributed 500 school bags to orphans and students from unprivileged families registered in Umm Al Quwain.
The ‘School Bag’ drive has been initiated by the Low Income Families Committee (LIFC) under the Dabs in the northern emirate, in collaboration with the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation (ESGCF).
Sultan bin Rashid Al Kharji, Advisor to the Minister of Health and member of the LIFC, said the ESGCF spares no effort to support all the projects and initiatives of the LIFC. “The foundation provides all the humanitarian and charitable aids to the poor, needy, and students of low-income families in all emirates of the country.
“The students enrolled in the private elementary schools in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain benefited from the venture worth Dh100,000,” he said.
Ali Hassan Al Assi, head of the LIFC in UAQ, said the initiative has seen an effective participation from the community service department of the UAQ Police.
Al Assi said the LIFC honoured Sheikha Baharoon, a social worker with the UAQ Education Zone, for her outstanding involvement with the social workers of the committee.
