Dar Al Ber Society (DABS), based in Dubai, has run up to 12,400 charitable, humanitarian and developmental projects in the first nine months of the year.
The projects, from which thousands of people have benefited, included 3,629 in the first quarter against 4,873 in the second, and 3,502 in the third, according to a top official.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, executive director of Dar Al Ber, said the charity projects, undertaken by the Projects Department - DABS, are all in pursuance of the vision and directives of the UAE prudent leadership.
"Lots of relief campaigns and projects were accomplished in collaboration with the accredited entities from January 1 to September 30 for the benefit of indigent people at deprived areas around the world."
An Islamic education complex was built in Sudan, apart from a number of water wells dug there and in other countries, he added. "We also built several mosques and organised mass Iftar banquets during Ramadan."
The Adahi or sacrificed meat and the Eid clothes were distributed to poor and low-income people, as well, Bin Zayed explained. "Many Quran study centres and classrooms were built while Zakat Al Fitr was contributed to eligible people."
Recently, the 37-year-old association launched a relief campaign to help 5,000 families hit by the floods in the Sudan.
The relief drive, held under the sponsorship of Hassabo Mohamed Abdel Rahman, the Second Vice-President of Sudan, stood at around Dh2,400,000.
