Bani Yas, the small town located 22 kilometres from the capital, will soon get an infrastructure upgrade. New internal roads, parking lots, and other civic facilities will be built to facilitate the community.
The infrastructure project aims at developing 317 land plots in Bani Yas East 11-4, Bani Yas East 11-5, and Bani Yas North 1.
An additional 1,229 parking spaces, a 17.5 km road network, pavement and curbstone works extending 34.8 km, and a 2.8km long fence, will make up the key features of the upgrade.
The Abu Dhabi Municipality is keen on striking a balance between the rising population and growing commercial areas, and local needs for more infrastructure, especially parking lots.
It will also add on and improve communication, sanitation, water and electricity features, including the connections to existing networks, street lighting, installation of traffic signs, road planning, and construction of future conduits and storm water drainage lines.
Working in numbers
Works also include moving and protecting existing utility lines, and improving existing roads and pavement tiling to serve 46 land plots.
The project covers 297 land plots, each spanning an area of 1,248 square meters, and 20 land plots, each covering an area of 2,786 square meters. The total cost of the project is more than Dh172 million, and is scheduled for final completion within 600 days.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality said that the work will begin soon. The project is intended to match the emirate's mega development and rising demographic growth in keeping with development standards, and the local community's needs.
The project is also part of the Abu Dhabi 2030 Plan, and reflects the integrated approach by both the Department of Municipal Affairs & Transport, and Abu Dhabi City Municipality, in expanding the development roadmap in the capital, suburbs, and emerging cities such as Bani Yas.
