The government-sponsored Shaikh Zayed Housing Programme has approved Dh383 million in loans and grants for 642 eligible Emiratis.
As many as 503 citizens will get the amounts as loans, while the remaining 139 — people with special needs — will receive grants. The move is part of the government’s mission to enhance Emiratis’ quality of life, and in line with the UAE’s pursuit of happiness as part of the seven-year UAE National Agenda leading to UAE Vision 2021.
The move is in line with directives from the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Shaikh Sultan orders construction of 1,000 houses
His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the construction of 1,000 houses, settling rental dues for families and solving their financial problems.
The gesture was announced at a live programme on Sharjah TV and Radio. Residents of Al Hamriaya area received cheques to pay off their rental dues. Their rents will be paid until houses are ready. He also instructed Emiratis in rented houses in Sharjah to receive their annual rent cheques.
He added that he has come to know that 8,000 elderly people receive only Dh6,000 to Dh7,000 which is very less compared to the high cost of living. They will be supported, he said.
He added that it was brought to his notice that 2,000 stateless people living in Sharjah are in need of urgent support, and he ordered to end their suffering.
