Over 80 per cent of the construction works of Shaikh Shakhbout Medical City has been completed, the Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) has revealed.
The new healthcare facility is part of a government initiative to provide best services in line with international standards.
"The construction and building of the Shaikh Shakhbout Medical City is in line with the directions of our prudent leadership, aspiring to ensure highest levels of welfare for the members of the community in the form of best levels of health services and requirements," said Ali Al Haj Al Mehairbi, Musanada's acting executive director, building construction management division.
The Dh4 billion medical city will accommodate 732 hospital beds, two royal suites and 36 VIP suites. "Once complete, it will become a distinguished centre for treatment of trauma and incurable diseases," Musnada said.
The medical city is envisioned to be one of the largest intensive care medical facilities at the regional level. The medical city, located in Al Mafraq area, stretches over 300,000 square metres.
