In time for the opening of Asia Football Cup (AFC) next week, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) had completed its development projects around Sharjah Sports Club.
The project, worth Dh850,000, is part of the UAE's preparations for the AFC activities that will be held on eight venues around the country from January 5 to February 1, 2019.
Mohsin Balwan, director of road maintenance, SRTA, said all the internal pavements, corridors, and yards of Sharjah Sports Club, along with 450 parking spaces, had been repainted.
"We have also developed special parking spaces for the AFC players and participants," Balwan said.
Up to 6,000 metres of pavement blocks had also been freshened up, he added.
"These are meant to ensure the convenience of both players and visitors." The SRTA is working on an ambitious plan to develop the entire road network of the emirate, including the regular maintenance of infrastructure, Dr Balwan said. For feedbacks, complaints and inquiries, residents may call SRTA at 600525252.
