Being one of the world's busiest airports isn't easy. With thousands of flyers going in and out of Dubai, a lot of travellers make mistakes that cost themselves and the airline precious time. Here are ten things you should NOT do the next time you're at Dubai International Airport.

Expect non-peak crowds during peak days

Always plan ahead, holiday flyers take note.

Wait at the gate desk of a cancelled flight

Just call your airline and don't stress out the desk agent who has probably answered the same question again and again.

Avoid the lounge during a long stopover

Make your life easy by forking out a couple of dirhams. Not that you'll sit on the cold chairs for more than two hours.

Checking in for your flight on time

Checking-in AHEAD of time gives you the benefit of kicking back for a while, earning bonus air miles and getting a good seat.

Upgrade to business/first class because you're dizzy

The seats in the middle of the plane are the best if you want to avoid motion sickness.

Not double checking airport monitors for flight information

You might have a smartphone app to do that, but nothing beats getting firsthand information.

Forget to bring a pen

International flights will always require you to fill up an immigration form. Don't be that flyer that hopes the person sitting beside him/her has one.

Not keeping essentials in your cabin baggage

If your checked-in bags get lost or delayed, have essentials such as medicine, a phone charger and extra clothes with you just in case.

Not wearing sunblock

Studies show that flying for an hour at 30,000 feet exposes you to the same amount of radiation as 20 minutes in a tanning bed.

Not using the loo in the airport terminal

Many flights get delayed because passengers are using the on-board loo for a last- minute bathroom break.
