Celebrate Emirati heritage with arts, shows and a whole lot of folk dancing all lined up in  Dubai Culture and Arts Authority's (Dubai Culture) National Day programme this year.
Dubai Culture's special events - participated in by several other government entities - have captivated people of all ages at Dubai Design District (d3), museums and heritage sites. Activities shall continue on Monday and Tuesday.
"Our 48th National Day celebrations enhanced the tradition of ancient folklore and blended it with elements of contemporary culture, in line with the eight principles of Dubai, which shape the city as a 'land for talent',"  said Hala Badri, director-general of Dubai Culture.
"They highlighted the uniqueness of Dubai's cherished community, and they are aligned with the Dubai 2021 Plan objective of establishing the emirate as a city of happy, creative and empowered people."
One must-see is People of Old Time, an entertaining puppet show presented by seven people of determination. Then there are folk dances, such as Al Ayala and Al Harbeya, at Etihad Museum, Al Shindagha Museum and Dubai Museum.
Dubai Culture has also organised a heritage journey for tourists at Etihad and Al Shindagha museums, introducing visitors to the inspiring story of the UAE's foundation.
Another highlight was Art For Good, which involved a group of artists of several nationalities who worked together on interactive masterpieces.
