A man has been sentenced to five years in jail by the Umm Al Quwain Misdemeanour Court after he was found guilty of possessing and peddling drugs.
As per the sheet of indictment, the suspect, an African resident, was arrested red-handed with hashish and marijuana in his possession.
It was found that the defendant had been selling hashish to Arab customers, who were also arrested and accused of abusing drugs.
Court records showed that the anti-narcotics department was alerted that the suspect had drugs in his possession and intended to sell them to his customers.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect had sold marijuana to two drug abusers already in police custody.
