The event, to be held at the Dubai International Convention Centre under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and Chairman of Emirates Group, is the world’s leading airport-airlines networking event.
“It is very apt that the global aviation industry’s most important forum, which brings together airports and airlines, should come to Dubai, the regional centre for trade and business, and indeed, aviation hub and the emerging global commercial and tourism centre,” said Shaikh Ahmed.
He noted that Dubai’s hosting of this prestigious forum is part of DCA’s strategy and vision for the future. “Routes and Dubai go back a long way. We have participated in the forum for the past eight years, and have won seven awards under various categories,” he said. He added that the forum is an opportunity for Dubai to present the Dubai World Central (DWC) as the future global hub to a range of airlines such as network and low cost carriers, regional operators, cargo as well as charter airlines.
Anita Mehra Homayoun, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at DCA, said: “It is a matter of prestige for us that we are hosting this forum. It is an opportunity for us to network with all kinds of carriers to promote Dubai International Airport, as well as draw their attention to the DWC project.” Routes Dubai 2006 is attracting airports and airlines from across the globe and over 2,500 delegates are expected to attend the event.
