Residents and visitors of Dubai will be 'united in celebration' this Eid Al Adha, with preparations for the 10-day extravaganza is in full swing.
The Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), has announced the 8th edition of 'Eid in Dubai - Eid Al Adha", which will take place from September 17 - 26.
As a social and cultural initiative launched by DFRE in 2008, 'Eid in Dubai - Eid Al Adha' will be celebrated under the theme, "United in Celebration" this year.
The 10-day celebrations will see a range of family-centric social, cultural and entertainment events intended to promote Arab culture and cuisines among people of diverse nationalities.
Concerts featuring international icons, theatrical and comedy shows, fireworks and shopping promotions were expected to offer a festive ambience for residents and visitors alike.
The internationally popular singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding will perform Live in Concert on September 24, while the famous American rock band 'Thirty Seconds to Mars' will wow their fans at their concert next day.
Laila Mohammad Suhail, CEO of DFRE said: "Following a successful fun-filled summer season, Dubai is gearing up to offer residents and visitors plenty of more excitement during the forthcoming 'Eid in Dubai - Eid Al Adha' celebrations. It is that time of the year when families from around the world get into celebration mode no matter from which country or community they hail from, in a true reflection of Dubai's strong multicultural fabric.
We can take pride in the fact that this special period of celebrations has become an integral part of the socio-cultural calendar of Dubai, This year, it is further enhanced by a diverse calendar of events for every member of the family to take away memorable moments of Eid holidays".
Laila Suhail added 'Eid in Dubai - Eid Al Adha' is a testimony to the continued cooperation extended to government-driven initiatives by the private sector.
DFRE's Strategic Partners for 2015 are Emirates, AW Rostamani Group, Al Futtaim Group, Emaar Malls, Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Paris Gallery, Enoc/Eppco, Nakheel (Ibn Battuta Mall), Dubai Duty Free, Al Zarooni Group (Mercato), Meraas Holding, and Etisalat while MasterCard is a key sponsor.
Along with cultural activities, retail promotions were also arranged for the children at various outlets from September 17 to 26.
The carnival will feature retail outlets including Hamleys, Toys 'R' Us, Early Learning Centre, The Toy Store, Comicave, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Dubai Ice Rink, Kidzania, Njoi, Reel Cinemas and Sega Republic.
Another promotion 'An Eid to Remember' campaign from September 17 to October 3 give shoppers an opportunity to win Dh 500,000 worth of scratch and win prizes. Shoppers will be given scratch-and-win raffle coupon for every purchase of Dh200 and one coupon for every Dh100 spent at the F&B outlets in the malls.
Each winner will receive a shopping voucher worth Dh500.
