A new venue, worth Dh1.8 billion, will be launched in two years, announced Dubai Municipality on Sunday.
Dubai Conference Centre (Arena) project will provide three hotel and office buildings with a huge conference hall to host fairs and conferences that are considered a main area of tourist attraction.
The project will be located at Al Jaddaf, over an area of 55,000 square metres, facing the Dubai Festival City, said Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality in a press conference organised by the department.
He added that since the arena will host major world events, it will contribute to improving Dubai's status stressing and highlighting its cultural and educational dimensions. He said that the project is "one of the most important tourism projects to be carried out."
The main elements of the project will include the building of Shaikh Rashid Hall for conferences that will fit 10,000 people. The 190,000 square feet hall will use the latest technologies in display and audio devices as well as cinema screens. It will be boosted with five sub-halls, accommodating up to 1,000 persons each.
Two hotels will be launched with an office building covering an area of 310,000 square feet.
