Offices of Dubai Customs have resumed work at 100 per cent capacity, with strict precautionary measures in place.
From June 14, Dubai has allowed government entities to welcome back all their staff to offices. And since then, Dubai Customs has initiated its employees' gradual return to their desks.
"The last two weeks saw a gradual return of staffers to their offices following a shift routine, where half of the employees worked from home and the rest from the office while maintaining social distancing and other measures," said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, director-general of Dubai Customs.
Exemptions from office work were given to some staff members, including seniors, those with chronic diseases, pregnant women, and mothers with children in Grade 9 or below, he added.

"An online awareness campaign was held prior to this step, enlightening employees about all safety guidelines, particularly social distancing, maintaining good hygiene and how to wear protective gear properly."

As part of precautions, Dubai Customs has put up its own innovative safety station called 'Aman', Musabih said.

"The station is equipped with a number of devices, including thermal cameras that operate automatically and detect any rise in temperature. It is also equipped with  masks, sanitisers and a smart screen to display awareness information."

Mohammed Al Ghaffari, acting executive director for human resources, finance and administration division at Dubai Customs, said the team has proven its full capability to get work done remotely.

"With highly efficient technologies and smart infrastructure set up, none of the vital services were affected despite the precautionary measures and movement restrictions," Al Ghaffari said.
