Employees of a leading retailer has set the Guinness World Record for the largest painted wooden block mosaic in Dubai.
Employees from Majid Al Futtaim - the shopping mall, retail and leisure giant across the Middle East and North Africa - painted the 930 wooden blocks in four hours, holding its place in the history books.
Moreover, it is the company's first Guinness World Records, thanks to more than 1,000 employees, their family and friends who participated to create the Majid Al Futtaim logo, the golden 'M'.
Samer Khallouf, head of records management team at Guinness World Records witnessed the event and said: "Initially, we challenged Majid Al Futtaim to break the record for the most people to contribute to a painted wooden block mosaic. That record stood at 529 participants in Germany, but 3,633 participants in Australia broke the record the day before the Majid Al Futtaim event.
"So we quickly changed the challenge and asked the Majid Al Futtaim family to break the record by the size of the final image. They created a painting seven times larger and in doing so showed their spirit of togetherness. We congratulate the whole team on their new title as Guinness World Records title holders." Mouien Al Madhoun, human capital officer at Majid Al Futtaim, said: "We place great emphasis on our brand values and encourage our employees to push the boundaries. We are extremely proud of our people and look forward to breaking even more records together in the future."
Robert Welanetz, Chief Executive Office at Majid Al Futtaim - Properties,s aid: "Once again they have shown their passion for achievement by joining together to break a world record and it's a reminder of how much we can do as a group."
Officials from Guinness World Records adjudicated the record and Majid Al Futtaim were declared the new World Record holder on April 28, striving on the fact that "team work makes the dream work."
