As Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2019 concluded its biggest edition yet on Saturday, Galadari Brothers pulled out all the stops to encourage its employees to embrace a fitter and more active lifestyle. The company has clinched the top spot in the corporate category of the challenge with 40 per cent active participation of its employees.
This is the third year straight that the group - which is among the UAE's largest conglomerates with interests across automotive, retail, publishing and hospitality sectors - has participated in and pledged support to the DFC. When Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, announced the DFC on October 18, Galadari Brothers was among the first few corporates to accept the challenge with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The group has been on top of the leaderboard from the beginning of this edition with well-organised fitness events and daily sessions. In addition to the regular 30-minute sessions that included yoga, high-intensity interval training and other workout sessions by professional trainers, weekend events celebrated fitness on a bigger scale. At these weekend fitness carnivals, employees from all 12 companies of the group took part in competitions such as the Galadari Run, cricket tournament, multisports championship and others.
Suhail Galadari, Director, Galadari Brothers, hailed the challenge as a "much-needed nudge" to put on the workout gears. "We all know that fitness is a way of life. But we often find excuses to avoid a daily workout routine. The overwhelming response we got from our group employees is proof that all it requires to have a daily exercise routine is a change in our mindset.
"The workout sessions we had at our group companies have already raised our fitness levels a notch higher. None of this would have been possible without the wonderful team that worked behind promoting the fitness challenge and also those who wholeheartedly participated. A big congratulations to Team Galadari!"
Mohammed Galadari, Director, Galadari Brothers, said: "It is a matter of great pride for us that the Galadari Group has been at the forefront of turning fitness into a lifestyle throughout the last 30 days. By throwing our corporate weight behind the vision of Sheikh Hamdan, we have again proven that we are a responsible organisation that believes in promoting fitness and healthy lifestyle, which in turn translates into building healthy communities around us. Go Galadari!"
Mohamed Yahya Kazi, Director and Group CEO, Galadari Brothers, said: "I am immensely proud to see the Galadari Group taking an active role in fulfilling the vision of our country's leaders. I wish to thank the Dubai Crown Prince for guiding us all to the world of fitness. Mr Suhail Galadari and Mr Mohammed Galadari have led the way for the Group as role models. Without their support, our group would not have been able to achieve this. I also wish to thank all the CEOs of our group companies for driving this noble initiative through to each and every individual employee of the conglomerate. This is the third successful year of the DFC and I foresee that this trend will eventually become a part of the daily lives of people in Dubai, hopefully making it the healthiest city in the world."
