A passion for singing and writing on social issues led a simple Dubai girl, Siya Arora, who is just 14-years-old, to begin her musical journey. Her debut single Slow Down World has gone viral on social media since its release. The single was written, composed and sung by Arora and reflects disappointment over the wrongs happening in the world. It impressed people immensely and the video is loaded with comments and praises from different parts of the world.
Overwhelming response and all the praises leaves Siya speechless. "I am thankful to everyone who has spared a few minutes to watch this video," she said while playing her guitar.
"Whenever I read about the attacks and disasters happening around the world, I feel disturbed. We are all very busy and don't stop to think what is happening around us. This video suggests that we slow down and start living right. I wanted to express my feelings in and the best way possible, and I could do it by music. I never planned to make a song but I realised if I can get out the message to a bigger audience I have done something on my behalf. The feeling of giving back something to the society added to the experience.
The song was released almost a month ago and today we have around 55,000 views on facebook." She added that she has sent several tweets to artists and music companies. "This is not for me to get famous but to reach my message to as many people as possible." A big Shakira fan, Arora derived inspiration from her parents to pursue her dreams. She is ready with her second single on Independence Day and is planning to release it in another two weeks. "This song is very special and close to my heart, it's an English and Hindi mix and I will make sure it reaches the Indian prime minister, Modi."
Meenu Arora, Siya's mother, said that she has been in Dubai for 11 years now. "But our roots are still in India."
Siya is an excellent student, she added. "She is the Shaikh Hamdan Award winner in 2013-2014, loves painting and is a big foodie."
