“We do look at this very carefully, sector by sector to see where do we need to tighten and where do we lift restrictions. And that will continue. It is nothing to do what anybody else tells us because there is a very clear plan,” Al Marri told CNN in an interview on Tuesday.

Earlier this week, Dubai announced new restrictions to control the pandemic including closing down pubs and bars, ramping up PCR testing for passengers and cracking down on private parties and events.

“All of the decisions related to public health are led by a health authority and a scientist. Whatever they recommend, we work with private sector to make sure it is implemented in the best possible way,” Al Marri said.

The UAE is one of the fastest countries to vaccinate its population which will help bring down the number of new cases. The number of Covid-19 cases in the UAE reached 309,649 on Tuesday while total recoveries and deaths rose to 285,201 and 866 respectively.
