Dubai Police clarifies issue of British driver's arrest

Dubai - He flashed his finger towards another driver in a road rage

The Dubai Police, on Friday rebuffed media reports about a British driver's arrest in Dubai for flashing his finger towards another driver in a road rage.
In a statement, the Dubai Police clarified that reports that went viral on social media networks and a section of Western media about the arrest contained incorrect information and contradictions.
"With reference to the news about the Dubai Police detaining a British man for flashing his finger in an obscene gesture, the Dubai Police Headquarters confirms that G.A., a British national, had done an inappropriate act while driving a rented car on Al Khail Road to complainant, A.G, an Asian driver. A.G. was travelling in his car accompanied by his wife and children and reported the matter to the police against the other driver," the statement said.
"It appeared that the accused left the country at that time and during his return to the UAE on September 10, he was detained. The police had summoned the complainant and tried for a reconciliation.
