Dubai Police inching closer to zero crime rate

Dubai - The crime index indicates that there are 42 crimes for every 100,000 people

The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Dubai Police has resolved 99.1 per cent of overall crimes recorded in the year 2016. This is up from 98.6 per cent in 2015.
Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, said the police's strategic plan was to maintain a solve rate of 90 per cent. He said organised crimes and gangs are virtually non-existent in Dubai now. "Criminals think many times before coming to Dubai to commit any crime, because they know very well that the police are working to make the emirate one of the safest in the world."
He said the Dubai Police was now was represented in the International Organisation for Interpol and one of its efficient officers was there to follow-up on the clock, both locally and internationally, every person who commits a crime in the territory of Dubai, or in the UAE, as the country does not tolerate violations of laws and is very particular about bringing the perpetrators of crimes to justice.

Colonel Adel Joker, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Dubai Police, said that 2016 was a challenge for the CID as they have decided to achieve outstanding results in resolving crimes.
He added that in 2016, around 26 crimes were recorded and all perpetrators were arrested and referred to the judiciary. The arr-est made in the shocking 'headless women body parts' case is a major achievement for the Dubai Police. He said that the crime index indicates that there are 42 crimes for every 100,000 people; however, it is dropped by 5 crimes compared to 2015, in which the rate was 47 crimes for every 100,000 despite an increase in the total crime complaints, which rose by 22.1 per cent. However, there were no unresolved crimes of rape and kidnapping; unresolved assault crimes also fell from eight reports in 2015 to 6 in 2016, pick pocketing from 69 in 2015 to 47 in 2016; theft from 460 in 2015 to 332 in 2016, and unresolved car thefts from 31 to 13 cars in the past year.
CID officials are aware of minute details in the incidents and follow up with all the concerned sections at police stations, airports and ports. Recently, a new criminal investigation point has been introduced at the International City police point as well.
