The 22nd edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) draws to a close on Saturday, 28 January, having offered millions of residents and visitors from around the world the opportunity to take home memorable moments from a 34-day retail bonanza.
With its exciting slogan 'Shop.Win.Celebrate', DSF 2017, organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), lived up to its promise of offering the best shopping experience for the whole family, packed with unbeatable deals, mega prizes and entertainment.
DSF kicked off its 2017 edition with a unique celebration that took place on 26thDecember, 2016 at Dubai Festival City, an Al Futtaim Group development, featuring the first fire, light and water show of its kind that was open to the public and broadcasted across the region.
The range of events and activities during DSF 2017 revolved around the annual festival's three pillars of Shopping, Winnings and Entertainment, giving people a special twist to their shopping experience that included events and activities related to fashion, beauty, perfumes, gold, and jewellery. These events provided the perfect platform for the retail sector to offering numerous promotions and activations aimed at boosting sale. In fact, DSF shoppers were able to get the best bargains including discounts of up to 75 % on an array of items including clothes, fashion, electronics, watches, perfume, furniture, house appliances, and much more.
Highlights of DSF 2017
12-Hour Exclusive New Year Shopping
DFRE collaborated with strategic partner, Majid Al Futtaim Properties, to organize the 12-Hour Exclusive New Year Shopping experience at all Majid Al Futtaim malls that ran from 12:00pm to 12:00am on the first day of 2017. The promotion was a huge success, and gave visitors and shoppers the opportunity to take advantage of amazing discounts of up to 90 % across diverse brands.This experience also allowed shoppers the chance to win a fabulous prize of AED50,000 in gift vouchers to be used at any of the Majjid Al Futtaim malls. The prize was won by Hakima Bin Shaaban, a UAE resident from Morocco.
Infiniti Mega Raffle 
Infiniti Mega Raffle offered winning opportunities to many visitors with an Infiniti QX70 and AED 150,000 in cash given away daily to a lucky winner, in addition to five weekly winners of AED 250,000 throughout the festival. Prizes from the Infiniti Mega Raffle brought joy to many winners of different nationalities and ages, including one Filipino salesman, who had lost his job shortly before participating in the raffle. Raffle tickets can still be purchased for AED 200 from several locations including EPPCO and ENOC petrol stations, Al Ghurair Centre; Madina Mall, IMG Worlds of Adventure, Global Village; Al Fahidi Street; Al Rigga Street; Al Seef Street; Baniyas Road and the Gold Souq. The raffle continues until 4thFebruary, 2017.
Nissan Grand Raffle
The Nissan Grand Raffle proved to be one of DSF's great daily raffle draws, giving away one of eight Nissan cars - Micra; Sunny; Sentra; Tiida Hatchback; X-Trail; Juke; Pathfinder; and Patrol - to a winner every day. The generous prizes brought happiness to many, with one lucky UAE resident, Abeer Khamees from Egypt, winning a prize after entering a raffle draw for the first time ever.
Gold and Jewellery Raffle
The Gold and Jewellery promotion of Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group changed the lives of 100 gold and diamond buyers during DSF 2017. Over the course of 34 days, 1 kilo of Gold was offered daily. Each day, one lucky winner received 1/2 kilo of gold, while two others each won 1/4 kilo of gold. On the final day of DSF 2017, one shopper stands to win 1 kilo of gold. 
'Happy Shopping, Happy Winnings' promotion
This promotion run by community malls offered an opportunity to shop and win AED 1 million in cash and instant prizes.  A total of AED 600,000 was offered weekly (with AED 50,000 for 2 winners given away every week for four weeks); plus a grand raffle on the last day of DSF, where three winners get to take home great prizes (AED 50,000 + AED 50,000 + AED 100,000). 
DSF Fireworks Residents and visitors were able to watch a series of fantastic fireworks displays during DSF 2017. Lighting up the sky at the end of each week, these spectacular shows took place at different locations in Dubai, mesmerising visitors every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. Visitors enjoyed fireworks displays at THE BEACH, in addition to other Dubai locations at 8:30pm.
Market Outside the Box
This event took place in Burj Park next to Burj Khalifa, for the fourth consecutive year, but now with a new look and feel. The focus this year was on emerging brands in the UAE and the wider region, giving them the chance to take part in the creative cultural movement during DSF. Market OTB showcased the emerging artists of jewellery design and accessories, home décor and fashion. More than 100 designers displayed their products and promoted grass-roots engagement. The 10-day Market OTB also offered visitors the opportunity to experience a number of entertainment activities, including live shows and music concerts, as well as food trucks and food from favourite local food brands.
Beauty District
Beauty District at The Dubai Mall represented a fresh take on the world of beauty, The event combined retail offers and exclusive promotions, as well as new product launches in addition to special beauty sessions featuring the region's top beauty influencers. Beauty product retailers also offered exclusive beauty experiences. This year, DSF introduced innovative products from the Asian market, as well as products that are not currently available in the UAE. DSF created exclusive beauty boxes with a range of beauty and perfume products endorsed by celebrities.
Street Runways
This year's festival welcomed some of the biggest fashion influencers on social media, who surprised visitors and spectators with spontaneous shows across major locations in the city. Many of these personalities involved in fashion and design partnered with retail brands to organise the shows and highlight them in each location. Street Runways kicked off its line-up for DSF with a futuristic-themed private event at Dubai Future Foundation (3D Office at Emirates Towers). The event, organised in partnership with Galeries Lafayette, was attended by VIPs, participating retailers, media and key influencers. Fashion harked back to an era of glamour in the most recent Street Runaway event at the Gold Souq, with its "Twist in Time" show. Street Runways were also held at THE BEACH and CITY WALK. Each of these fashion shows complemented their location with the designs and fashion that the models wore.
Fashiontainment Fashiontainment brought together a fusion of fashion and entertainment to create a fashion show with musical performances by an international celebrity. Models showcased the latest designs from participating luxury designer brands on the runway, an event that saw Jessie J entertain the large crowd that had gathered to watch the show at Mall of the Emirates.
Fashion Express
Fashion Express combined the very popular 'flashmob' show with a 'pop up' concept to create an exclusive in-store event that not only entertained customers in the traditional common mall spaces, but also drove shoppers into the stores. Visitors had plenty of chances to be part of in-store promotions and to experience product launches.
Roaming Artistes
DSF 2017 offered visitors in its 22nd edition many more events and activities that further enhanced the shopper and visitor experience, including hundreds of roaming artistes and musicians who spread the festive cheer in malls across the city.
