An increasing number of families are claiming that it has become difficult to buy cattle at abbatoirs and distribute the meat to people in need during Eid al Adha. So, a concept meat store launched a solution: A full service that people can avail of without having to leave their homes.
Through the service called 'Qurbani', Meat One will take charge of slaughtering the animals at the Dubai Municipality Abattoir and delivering part of the meat to the needy, according to the donors' wishes.
Three branches of Meat One - in Al Qusais, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Sharjah - will offer two categories of meat delivery service.
According to a storekeeper, the first service will cost Dh2,200 and it will include slaughtering an Indian goat and cutting its meat based on the customer's request. The meat - which will be cleaned and divided into three parts - will then be delivered to the residents' doorstep.
"Costs will go down to Dh2,100 for an Indian goat on the second and third day of Eid Al Adha. Also, the meat that will be delivered to your doorstep in this category will be between 18kg and 20kg," said the storekeeper.
"The second category of service will cost Dh1,600, and the meat that will be delivered to the customer under this category will be around 12kg, also cut and divided into three portions."
Sacrificial meat, according to the Islamic law, has to be divided into three parts: One-third of the share is given to the poor; another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbours; and the remaining third is retained by the family.
The franchise in the UAE is collaborating with several charities in Pakistan to deliver the meat to those in need.
Residents can either pick up their order from a selected Meat One outlet or have it delivered to their homes.
"Eid al Adha is all about the spirit of sacrifice, and our aim is to ensure that people perform this act as smoothly as possible and within their budget. The fact that Meat One has gained a lot of trust across Middle East in delivering quality products - fresh and healthy Zabiha meat - has encouraged us to provide the UAE residents with services that will bring more ease and comfort in their lives," said Mr Ovais Jabbar, Director at Meat One Middle East.
