Dubai's Dabs sponsors Umrah for 820 workers

The Dar Al Ber Society (Dabs), with the help of philanthropists here, has organised eight free Umrah land trips for over 820 low-income workers with government and private entities, costing Dh1,093,330, in two years.
The pioneering scheme called 'Lifetime Umrah', is run by the Zakat and Seasonal Projects Department at the society in collaboration with the live radio programme 'Heavens Gates' that is broadcast every Friday by the Noor Dubai Radio.
Only those who have not performed Haj or Umrah are eligible for the totally free religious tours which 90 residents from different Arab, Asian and African nationalities, have availed recently.
Hisham Ahmed Al Zahrani, Manager of the department, said: "A number of lectures were delivered in Arabic and Urdu at Dabs headquarters on the Shaikh Zayed road to develop participants' awareness about Umrah, particularly new Muslims."
A delegation of the Society's scholars, preachers and administrative executives accompanied the workers to Saudi Arabia.
"The attendees were enlightened how to properly perform Umrah, and were educated about the benefits, values, and lessons behind, let alone a presentation on the itinerary of the religious trip."
