An Indian man died on Alitalia's New Delhi-Milan flight on Monday, which led to an emergency landing at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Indian Embassy officials said on Tuesday.
Kailash Chandra Saini, 52, from the Jhunjhunun district of Rajasthan, was accompanied by his 26-year-old son Heera Lal.
"The flight made an emergency landing on Monday. The body was taken to Mafraq Hospital. The formalities have been completed. The death certificate has been issued today (Tuesday). The body will be repatriated on Etihad flight, hopefully by Wednesday morning," Embassy counsellor M. Raja-murugan said.
M.M. Nasar Kanhangad, who is authorised by the embassy to work with the local authorities for repatriating the body, said Heera is waiting at the airport terminal."It's painful to see the son waiting for his father's mortal remains. This is an unfortunate incident but all officials are working to see that the body is repatriated at the earli-est," M.M. Nasar said.
