Emirates flight aborts take-off after tyres damaged

Dubai - The plane had to brake suddenly due to an unauthorised vehicle on the runway.

An unauthorised vehicle on the runway delayed an Emirates flight from Cairo to Dubai by over eight hours on January 12. According to a statement issued by an Emirates spokesperson, the flight had to abort take-off due to the vehicle.
Unexpected braking at high speed caused damage to the tyres, after which the plane had to return back to the terminal.
Passengers were disembarked and boarded on a replacement aircraft, which departed from Cairo at 9pm local time, the airline added in the statement.
"Emirates flight EK 928 from Cairo (CAI) to Dubai (DXB) had to abort take-off on January 12, due to an unauthorised vehicle on the runway," the airline said. "Emirates would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused but the safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance and will not be compromised. The authorities are investigating the incident, and we are cooperating fully."

Passengers were disembarked and a replacement aircraft was arranged and departed from Cairo (CAI) at 2100 local time, a delay of over 8 hours. Emirates would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused but the safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance and will not be compromised. The authorities are investigating the incident, and we are co-operating fully."
