Emirates Loto's weekly draws have been postponed to later this year, organisers announced on Saturday.
Effective immediately to facilitate "upgrades to the platform and to allow for the introduction for more customer-centric touchpoints", the draws are set to return in the fourth quarter of this year. A specific date has not been announced yet.
"The upgrades are scheduled to be completed later this year, at which time the draws will also return," Emirates Loto said.
Residents and Netizens who purchased entries to this week's draw will have their money refunded, organisers added.
"Emirates Loto will continue to engage and support the community through philanthropic and CSR initiatives during this time," they added.
On its website, the organisers advised winners who haven't claimed their prizes and residents who have bought entries to call 800 5825.
Said to be the region's first "fatwa-approved" raffle draw, Emirates Loto conducted its first draw in April this year.
With a prize pool that runs into millions, the scheme offers 'collectables' - cards of prominent UAE landmarks - that can be purchased online or through the app for Dh35.
The buyer can opt into a free live draw for a chance to win from Dh35 million to Dh50 million in jackpot prizes every week. Online buyers also have the choice to donate their collectable to charity instead of arranging to have it delivered.
Buyers can then use the Emirates Loto website or App to select six numbers from one to 49. If three, four, five, or six of the numbers selected for the draw match the six numbers randomly drawn by the ball machine that week, they win a prize.
