A Filipina nanny was charged by the Dubai Police for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl while she was playing in the play area of a shopping mall in the Mizhar area.
Colonel Abdulla Rashid, director of Al Qusais police station, said the mother said that she left her two children - four year old girl and five-year boy - for two hours under the nanny's supervision at the shopping mall as she went to a salon.
The mother has accused the nanny of showing her daughter a porn film on her mobile and also touching the child inappropraitely while showing her the film.
Col Rashid said that the police called the suspect to the police station, however, the latter denied the charge and was released on bail. He said the case lacked concrete evidence as the mother refused to bring her daughter to the police station for questioning. However, he said the police will not close the case and will continue the investigation.
Col Rashid advised that mothers should educate children on interacting with strangers and report if anyone tries to touch or engage in any immoral act with them.
He said that the Dubai Police have also deployed women patrols in several areas for the comfort of women.
In the past nine months, the Dubai Police have recorded 6,750 crimes and theft-related cases have topped the list. Except for 155 cases, the rest all were resolved Col Rashid said.
