Two Filipinos, a man and a woman, who were allegedly caught with a quantity of crystal meth, denied the charge of possession of drugs for peddling, in the Court of First Instance.

The two accused, a 48-year-old salesman and a jobless person, aged 28, claimed that the drugs were meant for their personal use.
The case dates back to May 24 in Naif.

A police lieutenant said they were-tipped off about the male accused possessing marijuana and looking to sell it to potential users.
"We verified the authenticity of the information and learnt that he was in Al Baraha. We raided his car while he was in it. One officer found a bag containing hashish behind the right seat," the lieutenant told the prosecutor.

A police captain found a bag of money under the brakes. "The defendant claimed that he took the drugs from an Asian man in Ajman and that he offered them for sale in Dubai," the lieutenant said.
The defendant was referred to the General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics and later to Al Muraqqabat police station.

The police moved to Ajman to arrest the other Asian suspect but did not find him based on the details given by the Filipino man on trial.
The drugs seized from both accused weighed 1.95 grams of crystal meth.

Both used drugs as per the toxicology expert's report.
The court has adjourned the hearing to November 10.
