The fire was reported at 1am on Monday.
The police official said that when a police patrol patrolling residential areas, they saw thick smoke emanating from the villa, and immediately rushed there and knocked at the door wakening up its tenants who were sleeping and didn't know the danger they were facing.
The family members were evacuated and police called the civil defense who doused the fire in less than 20 minutes. The fire started in the refrigerator in the kitchen which completely gutted. "Without the early intervention of the patrol, the flame would have spread to all parts of the villa and destroy it, " said top official.
Col. Ahmed bin Yaroof, Director of Kalba Police station, said that the residential patrols are important and aimed at ensuring safety and security for residents in the emirate and also reduce the negative phenomenon that affects the society." The patrols in many cases intervened and saved many people lives and prevented crimes. "He disclosed.
The head of the affected family thanked the police and civil defense for saving his family's lives and their properties. "We were all deeply sleeping without the knocking of the police no one would know what was going on in our villa in the mid night, thank God for his caring " he said
