Pyrotechnics teams from four countries will battle it out for the 'best fireworks display' honour during a festival in Abu Dhabi next week.
Over two action-packed weekends during the Mother of the Nation Festival, the night will light up as teams from Canada, the Netherlands, South Korea and Australia put up eight epic 15-minute fireworks displays. One of the teams will be crowned the winner of the UAE's first-of-its-kind fireworks contest.
The fireworks will be launched from off-shore barges at the Corniche beach. The teams will launch a combined total of 87,102 shells from six floating barges.
The festival will take place at the Abu Dhabi Corniche from March 12 to 23. "The programming and activities for the festival have been carefully chosen to reflect pride in the nation's progress and achievements," said Farah Al Bakoush, festivals development section manager at the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi.
