Eighteen ambulances worth Dh7.5 million were added to Dubai's emergency response fleet on Wednesday, thanks to the contribution of Al Habtoor Group.
This ambulance delivery was just the first batch of vehicles that the group will be providing to the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS). It will donate a total of 50 ambulances - worth Dh22.5 million - which will be delivered in phases until 2022.
Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, founding chairman of Al Habtoor Group, oversaw the first delivery on Wednesday and met with Humaid Al Qutami, director-general of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and chairman of Dubai Ambulance Board; Lt-Gen Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; and Khalifa Hassan Al Drai, executive director of DCAS.
For the second batch, 14 ambulances worth Dh7.3 million will be delivered in 2021; and 18 amounting to Dh7.6 million in 2022.
With its contribution, the group seeks to support Dubai's first line of defense in its mission to provide excellent pre-hospital to patients; tighten precautionary measures; and bolster emergency response.
Al Habtoor said that providing the ambulances was the group's contribution to help make the UAE a model nation in maintaining the highest level of safety and security for its people.
"The least we can do for our beloved nation is to stand together in facing the dangers of the pandemic that threatens the security, safety and health of our community," he said.
Al Qutami expressed the authority's appreciation of Al Habtoor's generous initiative. He also pointed out that UAE is "full of key personalities who are aware of their responsibilities towards society and towards people".
