Al Majaz Waterfront, one of Sharjah's most popular leisure and tourist destinations, will welcome 2017 with a spectacular firework display, the largest of its kind in the emirate, promising visitors a truly memorable entry into the new year.
On the eve of 2017, visitors will be treated to a 10-minute awe-inspiring show to share joy, hope and good tidings of the next year.
The dazzling display will light up Al Majaz Waterfront's skies and illuminate the surroundings, creating a glittering spectacle that can be viewed from adjacent tourist venues such as Al Noor Island, Al Montazah, Flag Island and Khalid Lagoon Corniche, as well the residential and commercial buildings in the area.
The New Year's celebrations will begin with the countdown to 2017 with fireworks accompanied by music ringing in across the venue. The fireworks will take the shape of the countdown to the New Year, culminating in the number 2017 illuminating the skies.
Al Majaz Waterfront's visitors can also take advantage of the delightful nearby restaurants and cafes to capture truly unique memories of the evening with families and friends.
The AED 120 million Al Majaz Waterfront, Shurooq's debut project, launched in March 2012. It is situated in Sharjah's most vital and commercial district on the picturesque Khalid Lagoon. As one of the premier tourist and leisure destinations in Sharjah, it plays host to all major events in the emirate.
Al Majaz Waterfront has been hosting a spectrum of spectacular events like film screenings, stage shows, roaming performers and firework displays to commemorate national days and festivities, which provide visitors with wonderful opportunities for quality entertainment. It houses many world-class facilities including restaurants, cafés, children's zones, sports zones and more, making it one of the leading tourist and family destinations in Sharjah and the UAE.
The park has recently completed an AED 35 million extension project that has added 53,000 square feet to its total area and includes 12 new restaurants and cafés. As part of the expansion project, Sharjah Fountain has been enlarged to overlook the series of dining outlets and an extra 165 parking spaces have been added to accommodate the needs of the park's increasing number of visitors.
