A British National Curriculum and IB candidate school Sunmarke will open its doors to students in September 2016 in Jumeirah Village Triangle (JVT). Launched by Fortes Education, Sunmarke is a technology enables STEM school offering a rigorous, high impact education programme of MultiSmart Learning combined with a unique Education in Human Values (EHV) Programme.
Sunmarke will offer students the British National Curriculum and IB curriculum (with IB offered in Years 12 and 13 from the third year of operation), and will open classes for Nursery to Foundation Stage to Year 13.
Fortes Education has been in the UAE for over twenty years and its other educational institutes include Regent International School -rated as a 'Good' school with 'Outstanding' features by KHDA - and the Jumeirah International Nurseries (JINS). The group has further schools in development.
Sanjay Mankani, Managing Director of Fortes Education, said: "Sunmarke builds on the heritage and success of Regent International School with its entire secondary team moving to Sunmarke."
Allen Bird, Director of Education at Fortes said: "At the recent World Education Summit in Dubai, the importance of schools focussing on pupils' happiness as well as academic achievement to foster learning, problem solving skills and creativity was announced. We focus on MultiSmart Learning, a high impact education programme that unlocks multiple pathways to learning, resulting in all-round development and academic excellence."
MultiSmart Learning, according to Bird, combines a deep STEM (science, technology and digital literacy, engineering and design, and maths) programme and Creative Learning programme in the arts and humanities, as well as diverse extracurriculars.
Facilities in the school include laptops and tablet connectivity in every classroom; a blend of Smart TVs and interactive whiteboards; blended learning labs; and a digital library housing thousands of e-books, educational apps and online resources. More importantly, teachers are trained in 'blended learning' incorporating online learning and podcasts to extend a child's learning beyond the classroom.
