The Ajman Police have arrested a gang of four Asians who stole a safe with Dh300,500 from a flat. A top police officer said they received a complaint from an Asian resident, identified as H.D.M, who said an unidentified person stole the safe containing the money from his flat in the Masfoot district.
Major Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, director of the criminal investigation department (CID), said a police team formed to investigate the theft zeroed in on three suspects who worked where the victim did. It emerged that the three had not turned up for work after the theft was reported.
The police arrested the three suspects as they returned to their place of residence in the evening. One of them admitted to committing the crime and led the police to the fourth suspect.
All four suspects confessed to the police to carrying out the theft. The suspects each had a role to play, they told the police. "The first suspect monitored the victim's movements; the second waited in the car; the third waited outside the crime scene, while the fourth carried out the theft and shifted the safe to the car," said Major Al Nuaimi.
The police have recovered the stolen amount and referred the case to the public prosecution.
