Free child car seats will be distributed at select hospitals in Dubai in line with the Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) safety campaign. The move is part of the corporate social responsibility of Castrol.
"Lucky fathers of newborns in select hospitals around the city will be given free car seats. No strings attached," a Press release sent by Castrol stated.
"To ensure this message reaches a wider audience, the programme also has an online module. Parents can simply send a recent photograph of their little baby and their car on their social media pages with a tag #MagnatecLove2Protect," the company added.
The Press statement also quoted Deema Hussein, traffic awareness senior manager at the RTA, as saying: "The new amended traffic laws and regulation have now made it mandatory to use proper car seats for infants under four years of age. This comes on the back of growing trends by residents who seem to be unaware about the dangers of having infants in cars without proper car seats.
"The RTA has always been a driving force behind road safety. Making the roads in the city safer for all road users remains a key priority for us," added Hussein.
Parul Sikka, marketing director at Castrol Middle East, added: "Through this initiative with the RTA, we are participating in this circle of care and protection ... for the occupants of the car, particularly the little ones."
