The evolution of technology has created tremendous opportunities for educational facilities. Gone are the days where students wrote down notes by hand, and were limited to learning from a chalk board.
Today, students have access to vast sources of multimedia content available on various platforms such as tablets, cellphones and smart boards.
It's become an integral part of the way that students consume knowledge in a way that is collaborative.
Take assignment submissions for example, in most schools the process has moved online entirely.

Intelligent touch boards

A key technology revolutionising education is interactive learning displays, or "intelligent touch boards" as they are more commonly referred to.
It's easy to see why intelligent touch boards have seen a popularity surge in recent years, because technology manufacturers like Sharp are developing models that allow multiple users to engage with an interface that's highly responsive and that enables multifaceted wireless communication.
For those who are used to holding a chalk piece and a marker, there's something for them in the form of a touch pen. A device that looks and feels just like any ordinary writing utensil, but is superior in every way in terms of fluidity and overall feel.
Not everyone is quick to embrace new forms of technology.
However, there are those that have reservations about the practicality of smart solutions.
A few organisations struggle with how to implement and utilise technologies correctly. There are many ways to tackle this, such as teachers using the smart board to get students to take down notes, turning a mundane task into one that gets the entire classroom involved.
One of the main benefits that come with using such a vast range of media, is its incredibly dynamic nature.

How it helps students

Smart learning technologies can also benefit pupils that struggle to retain content through traditional teaching methods.
Instead of having to subject each student to the same material, teachers can tailor their lesson plans so that it resonates with each individual rather than using a one size fits all approach. No longer will instructors be forced to adhere to a curriculum that's structured around textbooks, instead they'll have the freedom to experiment which strategy works best for their student's needs.
A combination of these innovative learning methods have proven to be extremely successful in the UAE.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Program (MBRSLP) is a smart initiative designed to enhance academics in the region and has over 25,000 student participants spread across 150 schools.
In total, 442 classrooms received upgrades in the form of tablets and other forms of new technology.
Teachers have already realised  that additional tools such as the smart board don't operate in isolation.
In fact, they can be used in harmony with multiple devices. There's no doubt that smart learning is paving the way forward for the education sector.
It's important that educators of tomorrow embrace these advancements wholeheartedly. In doing so they're able to turn a typical classroom setting into a fun, interactive and engaging environment.
What's in store for the perfect learning environment? Only time will tell.
