Dubai-based conglomerate Galadari Brothers has hailed the success of the UAE’s ambitious Mars mission as the Hope probe successfully entered the Martian orbit at UAE time 7.42pm on Tuesday.

The company headquarters at Al Quoz was lit up in red to celebrate the arrival of the probe in Mars — the first by an Arab nation.

Congratulating the country’s leadership, space scientists and everyone who worked behind the Hope mission, Suhail Galadari, Co-chairman of Galadari Brothers, said: “It is a day of hope and pride for every UAE resident.”

“The world knows the UAE as a miracle that has bloomed from the desert. Our rise as a global hub for trade and tourism has left an indelible mark on the earth. Now, we have claimed our name in Mars, too,” he added.

He said the success of the mission has ignited hope and promise for millions of Arab youths with a simple message that they should also aim for the stars. “Thanks to the UAE’s Hope Probe, we will see a new generation of space scientists and astronomers from the UAE and the Arab world in the coming decades. I am sure our scientists will scale even greater heights and achieve bigger feats in space.”

Mohammed Galadari, Co-chairman of Galadari Brothers, said today will go down in the annals of history as the day Arabs arrived in Mars.

“With the success of the Hope probe, the UAE has proved once again that it is a country with a Midas touch and that impossible is possible on this land. For a young country to conquer Mars — a feat achieved only by five nations so far — is nothing less than epoch-making. I consider it an honour and privilege as a Dubai-born company to witness this milestone event, and also record it for posterity in Khaleej Times.”

Mohamed Yahya Kazi, Director and Group CEO of Galadari Brothers, also congratulated the Hope probe team and the country’s leaders and residents on the success of the mission.

“What an achievement that generations of UAE citizens and residents can be proud of and draw inspiration from. The Hope probe encapsulates the UAE’s abiding passion to excel and push boundaries. Being the first Arab country to reach Mars, the UAE has achieved the impossible.”

Kazi said the UAE’s leap to Mars is an achievement not just for the country but for the rest of the world. “Our mission will accelerate growth and progress of humanity by exploring the unknown depths of the red planet and by studying its weather patterns,” he added.
