Gasco staff honoured for IT competence

Nine employees from Gasco Abu Dhabi became the private sector company in the emirate to acquire the International Computer Drivers' Licence (ICDL), which is being offered by the Abu Dhabi Women's College (ADWC) as a certificate of proven competence in IT skills.

At a ceremony on Saturday, fresh ICDL graduates were felicitated for their achievement in the presence of Hamoud Alawi, Head of Training at Gasco, Rashid Anoon, Head of Human Resources at Gasco, Dr Nic Gara, Director of ADWC, Dr Sulaiman Al Jassim, Director of Manpower Resources and Community Relations at HCT, Lynda Fulton, Continuing Education Coordinator and Gary Johnson, Head of Instruction, both from the HCT.

According to some graduates, the ICDL certification achieved after an intensive two-week course, would help the company fulfil its vision for the 21st century, which includes an intensive staff development and training programme. The course saw managers and administration staff training side-by-side in order to achieve the ICDL, which is an international qualification that enables an individual to raise his or her general level of IT skills, is comparable to the European Computing Driving Licence (ECDL).
