The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) will launch its first ever Project Space Forum for students on January 24-25 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
As the first of its kind event to be held in the region, it aims to create a platform for the UAE youth interested in science, exploration and innovation to help them benefit from the knowledge of space scientists and experts.
Space experts from around the world will come to the UAE to share their discoveries and hopes for an industry that will "define the future of humanity". Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, director-general of MBRSC, stressed the importance of holding inspiring events, such as Project Space, for the Emirati youth, to serve as science platforms that ensure a promising future for space science in the UAE.
He also emphasised the need to find new ways for learning the most recent space technology developments in order to make a quantum leap in terms of knowledge.
Mona Al Qemzi, assistant director-general, corporate support sector at MBRSC, said: "We wanted Project Space to be a distinguished platform for UAE students to deepen their knowledge. This can be accomplished by providing them with vast experiences of the influential scientists in the field and on the experiences of national cadres."
The top speakers include Dr Noureddine Melikechi, Dean, Kennedy College of Sciences University of Massachusetts at Lowell, the only Arab scientist participating in the Nasa Curiosity rover mission currently exploring the Red Planet; Dr. Mohammed Al Ahbabi, director general of the UAE Space Agency; and Abby Harrison, who founded The Mars Generation.
