Great leadership by Sheikh Mohamed, says Kushner as first Israeli plane lands in Abu Dhabi

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash, Israeli National Security Advisor Meir Ben-Shabbat, and U.S. President's senior adviser Jared Kushner hold a meeting in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi - The delegation led by Jared Kushner will take the UAE-Israel agreement forward in a series of discussions with UAE officials.

The delegation led by Jared Kushner, Senior Adviser to US President Donald Trump, landed in Abu Dhabi on Monday afternoon, news agency WAM reported.

The delegation is visiting in the wake of the trilateral announcement and roadmap towards joint cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel.

Here are some of the key updates:
> "Another step toward regional peace. We are all excited and look forward to more historic flights that will take us to other capital cities in the region, advancing us all to a more prosperous future," Tal Becker, the pilot of the plane on the historic flight.
> "Prime Minister Netanyahu and the president will discuss that at some point," Kushner said, when asked about the possible sale of F-35 stealth jets to the UAE.
> Kushner also commended His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces for his "great leadership".
> The special plane that carried the US-Israeli team is equipped with a system to protect aircraft against aerial threats like ground-to-air missiles.
> The Directed IR Countermeasures (DIRCM) manufactured by Elbit Systems defend aircraft by detecting, tracking and jamming incoming infrared threats like heat-seeking ground-to-air missiles and shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles, also known as man-portable air defense systems (MANPADs).
> The delegation includes a number of representatives of various sectors in Israel on board the first Israeli commercial plane to land in the UAE.
> The delegation is headed by Jared Kushner, and includes US National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien and Meir Ben-Shabbat, National Security Adviser and head of the Israeli National Security Council.
> The special El Al 737-900 has 'Peace' painted in Arabic, English and Hebrew.

> The original plan was to fly on a 787.

> Flight LY 971, which represents the UAE's dialling code, will also have the Israeli security advisor Meir Ben Shabbat.
> The delegation, comprised of representatives from the investment, finance, health, civil space and aviation, foreign policy, diplomacy, tourism, and culture sectors, will meet with a number of representatives of UAE government agencies to discuss ways to develop relations in related fields and promote joint action and opportunities for cooperation.
> This visit comes as part of trilateral efforts to initiate normalised relations with the aim of achieving peace, stability, and support for bilateral cooperation.
