"She is doing well. She is smiling and waving to the doctors and bonding with the nurses," said a senior doctor.
After an eventful journey from Mumbai to the UAE capital under the full glare of both Indian and UAE media, the 36-year-old dubbed 'the heaviest woman on earth' has been admitted to a special ICU room prepared for her at Burjeel.
"We have already started medical examination and are conducting various tests that are crucial for her assessment," a spokesperson for the hospital said on Friday. A team of 20 medical specialists will be leading Emans' treatment in Abu Dhabi. She will be monitored round the clock and attended by three medical nurses at any given time.
"It will take a few days for the test results to arrive. Doctors will decide on the treatment plan after assessing the results," said the spokesperson.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, minutes after her arrival at Burjeel, Dr. Yassin el Shahat, consultant nephrologist and chief medical officer said Eman arrived safely in her bed at Burjeel Hospital. "I spoke to her personally. She is very happy and glad everything went smooth."
"We are planning to make a proper assessment. Twenty doctors and specialists have been assigned to make a proper assessment and we will come out with a proper management plan - short term and long term."
"The idea is to complete what has been done at Saifee hospital in Mumbai. The target is to make her normal or at least near to normal. It can take time. We have the proper plan for rehabilitation, treatment for all complications of diabetes and obesity and we are going to do our best."
