The UAE Capital has asked all hotels to start including kosher food in their menus. The latest development comes as more Jewish visitors are expected to visit Abu Dhabi, with the normalisation of relations between the UAE and Israel.

The local authorities said this will also serve as an opportunity for citizens and residents in the UAE to try new food items.

In a circular to hotel managers, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT- Abu Dhabi) underlined that they are committed to ensuring "certain foods" are available for all visitors and tourists in the Capital.

"All hotel establishments are advised to include kosher food options on room service menus and at all food and beverage outlets in their establishments," the DCT - Abu Dhabi said.

The circular also stated that all hotel establishments should seek certification for handling kosher meals. Similar to halal, religious rules are followed in producing, serving and consuming kosher food products.

The UAE and Israel are set to sign their historic peace deal in the US on September 15.
